Reconciliation Walk

Reconciliation walk

Over 300 students walked for reconciliation on Tuesday 28 May 2019 from Kurnell PS to Kamay Botany Bay National Park. Five local schools supported this event. The students worked to create some artwork for their schools under the guidance of local Aboriginal artist, Caitlin Stuart. They painted a tree and printed leaf shapes onto the canvas symbolising connections within Aboriginal community.

Walking together along the foreshore of Botany Bay, they held their individually decorated hand shapes.

At the National Park they placed their hand shapes into the grass signifying the coming together of black and white sharing together.

It was a very exciting day for students, staff and parents from Kurnell PS, Caringbah North PS, Cronulla South PS, Gymea Bay PS and Lilli Pilli PS.

The Reconciliation Walk will be held again in 2020. This event will be open to interested schools.
