The competition coincides with World Environment Day on June 5, when winning film entries will be screened across the nation through EnhanceTV.
President of Film by... Aussie Kids, Glen Carter, said the theme of the World Environment Film FestivalExternal link is connecting with your environment in an online world.
“Our students, like no generation before, are embracing technology and using film to convey their thoughts, ideas and dreams,” Mr Carter said.
“After a harsh summer of bushfires and floods, our environment was given a reprieve as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Now we are asking students to tell us what they want for our planet as the world moves out of lockdown.”
Students can share ideas about how to protect Australia’s unique environment by creating a film between 30 seconds and 3.5 minutes long.
“I hope every young person has a go and tells their story and in the process we as Australians will see powerful messages of a brighter future, a better Australia and a healthy planet,” Mr Carter said.
Film By… is a Department of Education initiative that features an annual series of more than 20 film festivals held in schools and cinemas across the state. It helps improve student outcomes by supporting creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication.
